TRUST TUTORING provides individualized in-home tutoring instruction for all subject and ages. It is presently qualified in Virginia to provide services under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Trust Tutoring program serves various school districts in the state of Virginia where specific schools and low income families qualify for these services provided at no cost to their qualified children. The Trust Tutoring program begins with an evaluation meeting, at which time we administer our “Evaluation of Basic Skills” test. This testing helps establish an effective plan of instruction that will most suitably meet the student’s individual learning ability, needs and interests. Following the evaluation, we set up an initial term of 20 sessions. Each session is 1 hour in length, and will be scheduled for at least one time per week. Sessions may be held at a participating school after class times or at home. Based on the evaluation, the Trust Tutoring program assigns a suitably qualified tutor to implement the instructional plan in consultation with the evaluator. The tutoring sessions help the student achieve academic success in the specific subject matter involved, emphasizing such contextual issues as basic concept understanding, organizational skills and greater independence and self-confidence in learning. At each session, the tutor writes up and provides to the student a set of daily logs to focus attention to specific subject matter topics for study and practice each day between sessions. These logs establish time commitments for such study, and are directed to the student’s individual level of ability, to assure a successful learning experience. We provide students with a three-ring binder to organize daily logs in sequential order, and other educational support materials as pertinent to the specific situation; e.g., phonetic readers, manipulatie materials to show basic math concepts, letters, numbers, etc. Tutors complete progress reports and submit these to the evaluator for every session conducted. We send to clients a written progress summary report to indicate results achieved during the 20-session term of tutoring. The initial term of tutoring may be renewed based on interest of parents and availability of funds. We invite parents and educators to inquire further as indicated below.
